Baby's Room

For the past month or so my hubby and I have been trying to get our nursery together.  It's finally starting to come together now.  My husband painted to walls purple and put together the crib and dresser and I worked on getting the room organized and put away... There is definitely more work to be done but so far I am really happy with it!

I still want to paint a cute mural on the wall but I haven't gotten there yet....and maybe a cute purple area rug too! lol

A Year in Review: 2012

The past year has been filled with a lot of ups and downs and now that it is a brand new year I like to take a look back and see what all happened that year, the good and the bad..... so here we go!!!!

January:
My hubby and I went to our first hockey game together AND it was at the new stadium!  He's a HUGE Penguins fan.

February:
We bought our first house!!!  Can't believe its been almost a year already!  Time flies!

March:
This was probably one of the hardest months for us....  We found out that I was going to have a baby...and then had to say goodbye only a couple weeks later.

April:
I was in a pretty dark place for a while after we lost the baby so I didn't leave the house much... I battled between sadness and anger. Lucky for me I have the most amazing husband in the world and together we overcame it and decided to try again.

May:
I got to be the Maid of Honor at one of my best friend's weddings!  I was sooo excited!...and nervous because I was terrified to give the speech.

June:
We were surprised to find out that we were expecting again!
AND
We had two weddings to go to in one month!  We hadn't told many people that we were expecting so I remember trying to hide the fact that I was only drinking water. lol!

My hubby was a groomsman in one of them..  He looked so great in his suit.

The 2nd wedding was at the Aviary in Pittsburgh.  I thought that was a really neat idea and we had never been to the Aviary before.
This was the cutest little guy there!  He did little dances for us..haha

July:
We got to see the baby's heartbeat!
She was such a little peanut then...

We also found out that I had something called hyperemesis gravidarum..which is a fancy way of saying excessive vomitting during pregnancy.  It's like morning sickness on steroids.  I was SO SICK and lost so much weight!  It is the same thing that Kate Middleton has.  I had never heard of it until they told me I had it.

August:
I spent most of my time in bed or on the couch sick...lol

September:
My little sister graduated from Cosmetology School!
AND
We got another ultrasound...this time she actually looked like a baby! lol  The doctor said we had a healthy and very active lil one.  She was rolling around too much for us to find out if she was a boy or girl though...lil stinker!

October:
Threw a baby shower for one of my best friends

Made my own costume!!

and another wedding.

AND found out we are having a girl!!!

November:
I had to take TWO gestational diabetes test. YUCK!!  I took the 1hr test and failed so they sent me for the 3hr test and I passed.  I'm a huge sissy about needles so I was terrified of having diabetes and having to take my blood multiple times a day.

I also had my baby shower at the end of the month

December:
I did my first commissioned art pieced in a VERY long time!  She wanted a painting of Bono from U2.

Christmas!!

I'm looking forward to all the new experiences with this upcoming year!  Hope you all had a great New Year's!!!

Our Christmas

Merry Christmas(a day or two late)!!!

32weeks preggers

In my family it has always been a tradition to open family gifts on Christmas Eve and then "Santa" gifts on Christmas Day,  this year was no different.

First we went to my mom's house and opened our family gifts and then my mom made an amazing Christmas Eve dinner, with my favorite!! Ham!

On Christmas morning we went back to my mom's and opened all of the Santa gifts....yeah we are still like little kids when it comes to Christmas..LOL  Then  we were supposed to go to the hubby's uncle's house for dinner but they had to cancel because they all have the flu... =(  Doesn't the flu know that Christmas is off limits?!?!  I mean, come on!!

Anyway,  this is when our plans got a little different.  His other aunt and uncle suggested going to a Japanese hibachi restaurant.  I can honestly say I had never been to a restaurant for Christmas dinner before but it was still a lot of fun.  I had to eat before we went because my morning sickness(aka all-day-sickness) seems to have come back, so I can only eat certain things. 8 more weeks to go!!!

So, what did you do for Christmas??

Halloween 2012

I'm a little late posting this one....  We had a lot of family stuff going on this past week or so.

(My husband's dad has been in and out of the hospital with stomach pain and they STILL can't figure out what's wrong.  Even after having surgery to have his gall bladder taken out. It's been frustrating.)

But on a happier note,  we only made it out for one Halloween party this year.  I didn't see too many costumes for pregnant women in the stores so I decided I wanted to make my own costume. I saw a bunch of pictures online of what I wanted to make sooo I gave it a shot..

First I used a white chalk pencil to draw out the design I wanted..

Then I used ripped up pieces of shoe boxes and slid them inside the shirt and started painting with Tulip fabric paint.
I also ended up adding a pink bow to the baby skeleton's head just to show off that she's a pretty little girl, of course!! LOL

Tada!!  Homemade costume for under $10!

At the Halloween party with a couple of my friends <3
I only ended up getting to wear the costume once but that's okay. =)  It was probably the comfiest costume I've ever had to wear!

Autumn

I absolutely LOVE Fall.  It is one of my favorite seasons (summer being my favorite).  Watching the leaves change is the best part.  It's so beautiful to look out over the hillside and see a bunch of reds, yellows, and oranges everywhere.  My mom used to tell me that faeries painted the leaves all of those bright colors because they missed the colors from the flowers. Maybe that's why it has always seemed so magical to me...
