11 Things About Me
I've been seeing a bunch of these posts going around blogger-land and thought I would join in on the fun!
The "technical" rules for this are:
1. Post these rules.
2. Post a photo of yourself and 11 random things.
3. Answer the questions set for you in the original post.
4. Create 11 new questions and tag people to answer them.
5. Go to their blog/twitter and tell them you've tagged them.

3. Answer the questions set for you in the original post.
4. Create 11 new questions and tag people to answer them.
5. Go to their blog/twitter and tell them you've tagged them.
1. My mom is and always will be my best friend. A lot of people would consider this uncool but I have never cared. Her and my husband are the first people I go running to with any sort of news. She has always believed in me and my dreams, no matter what anyone else said. She's my cheering squad and my personal bouncer if anyone messes with me. She's the greatest.
2. I've known my husband for around 13/14 years. He was always my best guy friend. Whenever I was single, he was taken, and whenever he was single I was dating someone. We always had a thing for each other but neither one of us would tell the other one because we didn't want to ruin our friendship. Eventually it worked out. =)
3. I have always had a big love for art and theater so I tried to combine the 2 and get an associates in Technical Theatre. I could be a Stage Manager, build sets, run lights or sound, paint the sets, costumes, etc. I have painted for smaller theaters, high schools, colleges, a movie set, and also at one of Pittsburgh's largest theaters. I would like to get back into scenic painting (painting sets and set pieces) but I refuse to join the union because I worked with them once and had a really bad experience. Maybe one day I will give it a shot again...for now I am a studio artist.
4. I was never one of those girls that planned their entire wedding when they were a little girl. I was the one that said, I never wanted to live with a guy because I like my space, I was never getting married, and I will absolutely never have children.... It's crazy what happens when you meet the right guy. I have been married for 1 year and almost 8 months and I couldn't imagine my life without him. We are also trying to have a baby...
5. I can't stand feet! I don't know what it is about them but they really gross me out. I could never get a pedicure because I don't let anyone near my feet, ever! But for some reason, I don't mind when my hubby rubs them. Weird!
6. I moved around a lot when I was younger. Most people ask if I was an "army brat" but no, we just moved a lot. I've lived in Delaware, Maryland, Kentucky, McKeesport Pennsylvania, Near Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, Racine Wisconsin, Burlington Wisconsin,...and I think I may have forgot a couple but you get the idea. I always loved Pennsylvania the best because that's where I made the best friends but I wouldn't mind living close to the ocean some day.
7. I grew up around an older brother and mostly all boy cousins so I was quite the tom boy. I hated barbie dolls. I played with ninja turtles and matchbox cars. I skateboarded for a few years, and was always coming home with skinned up elbows and knees. lol I refused to wear "girl clothes" until I was in about 11th grade. I would wear my older brother's hand me downs. I didn't wear any makeup until I was out of high school. Even now, I only wear eyeliner and mascara.
8. My cat is like my baby. I am insanely attached to him. I babytalk him all day and if anything happened to him I would probably lose my mind. His name is Momma's Boy =P
9. When I was younger I used to be a ballerina.... which sounds cute when you say it but in reality it isn't that cute. lol I was in a ballet academy and it was very grueling. You had to be up on your toes all day even if your toenails cracked. My feet and toes looked like someone ran them over with a truck. I begged my mom to let me keep dancing when she wanted to pull me out, even after that. We finally decided it was time for me to stop when I got stress fractures and broke my ankle. Sometimes I miss it but I think if I ever danced again it would be for fun and not for any academy.
10. I have a clover tattooed on my wrist for my Pop Pop (grandpa). His birthday is St. Patty's Day. To me, he was the greatest person who ever lived. He could walk into a room and everyone would smile. I've only heard him raise his voice once in my entire life. When I was little he used to dance with me all time... More like I would stand on his feet and HE would dance me around. That was our thing, we danced. He's "gone" now but I still think about him every day. <3 Every now and then I get the feeling he's watching and checking in on me. =)
11. Most girls love chocolate. My favorite happy food is strawberries. I can not be in a bad mood when I eat them! It's just not possible! lol
The 11 questions:
1. If money, schooling or time was no obstacle, what career would you choose?
I would want to be a fulltime artist. Art is something that is definitely a big part of who I am. It is what calms me down and there is nothing better than the feeling of seeing one of your pieces of art complete. I have so many ideas floating around in my head that it would take me a lifetime just to get them all done.
2. What’s the one thing you look forward to every day?
Spending time with my husband. I know it's cheesy but he makes me happier than I ever thought was possible. He showed me that fairytales do exist. It's nice to have someone that just "gets" you. I don't even have to explain what I'm trying to say...he just knows. There's something amazing about that. <3
3. What is your number one, all-time, favorite blog?
Oh geez, I have so many!! I guess I would have to say it's a tie between A Beautiful Mess and Talk 2 the Trees. Those are the two that I check first every morning. A Beautiful Mess is a great DIY blog with really cute ideas. Rachael's blog Talk 2 the trees is definitely a big favorite of mine because she is such a sweet and positive person. She's an optimist and I love that. I can't count the number of times I've had a not so great day and then read her latest post and she would have something not so great going on but still be able to find the silver lining every time.
4. Biggest online pet peeve?
Mean or rude people. I try to follow the rule "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" , but obviously some people don't follow the same rule. I just don't understand how trying to ruin someone else's day could possibly make you feel better. Whenever I encounter a person like that, I just try to remind myself that everyone has something going on in their life. You never know what someone is going through.... And if all else fails, "Kill them with kindness"...its the best revenge =P
5. What is your all-time favorite book?
I'm a big Lord of the Rings fan....yep, I'm a big, big dork. I am actually reading through "The Hobbit" for the second time because it's coming out later this year and I just HAVE TO. lol I also read my way through the Harry Potter's and the books really are better than the movies!
6. What would your “last meal” be?
Maryland crabs with Old Bay. Mmmmmm!!! They are so messy to pick through but it is so worth it!! haha. Normally I probably would have said spaghetti but I've been impatient for summer to start so it has been on my mind a lot lately. Every summer we have a big family reunion in Maryland and they always have crabs there....and they are soooo good! lol
7. Do you believe in love at first sight?
Love at first sight, no. Strong attraction/lust, yes.Sometimes when you meet someone you do feel like you "just know", but I don't think you can truly love someone until you get to know them.
8. What would your ideal Sunday morning consist of?
Waking up to the sun coming through my window on a warm summer day and going for a walk in the park with my hubby.
9. Why do you blog?
I blog to meet new people and share my experiences and my art with the world. I also think it will be fun to look back so many years from now and read about exactly what was going on in my life. I think will be pretty neat. It's also a great way to find inspiration for new crafty or artsy projects.
10. If you had to choose one color to wear forever, what would you pick?
I think purple is my favorite but I probably own WAY more black than anything. lol
11. What is your all-time favorite band?
Butch Walker. I love feel good music. =)
I thought about tagging a few people but I would like to invite everyone to fill this out and post a link in my comments so I can check out your answers. I think this is a really great way to get to know eachother =)

So fun!!! Loved reading more about you!
ReplyDeleteThanks Julie!! =)
DeleteI LOVE this! I will definitely take part.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite colour is purple too...and I probably have more black articles of clothing than I need as well.
I don't like anyone touching my feet either. I was a tomboy too...and to this day, I only wear very light makeup.
This is absolutely cool Julie. I'm gonna post my own today.
Tami
I can't wait to read yours when you are done! I had a lot of fun with mine.
DeleteThanks so much for following me! I'm following you back through GFC!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!! =)
DeleteFound you via the Weekend Blog Hop at Claire's blog.
ReplyDeleteI love your 11 random facts. I also hate..no loath.. feet. they only feet I can tolerate near me are those of my four year olds but she is quickly getting to the age that her cute little feet will reach the gross stage.
I never realized that it was that rough on ballerinas at such a young age. Maybe it is a good thing I am not encouraging my daughter to go for it.
So happy to have found your blog and am now following via GFC.
Thanks so much for stopping by and following!
DeleteI think a lot of dance studios are a lot more lenient than the one I was in. It was a lot of fun but they definitely pushed a little too hard, for sure. Whenever I go to see shows, I kind of miss it. lol
Yeah, baby feet are okay but when they start to grow then they gross me out. hahaha!!
What a cute and FUN post. I am going to spend some time this week doing this one. = ) I am one of your new followers from the weekend hop...I'm new to hopping too (what a great concept).
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to more post reads.
